Travis Book (bass player for The Infamous Stringdusters) released his solo album on October 27, 2023. I had the pleasure of shooting the photo used for the album cover as well as supporting lifestyle images for his website and promotional materials. We used multiple locations in the Brevard Lumberyard area in Brevard, NC.
In addition to working with Travis to create photos for his album release, I was also able to spend some time with him during a recording session at Landslide Studio in Asheville, NC. To say that the collection of musicians he put together for this project was stacked would be a massive understatement. Jeff Sipe on drums (Col Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit, Leftover Salmon, Susan Tedeschi, Keller Willams, Trey Anastasio, Jimmy Herring…just to name a few), Mike Ashworth on bass (Steep Canyon Rangers), Tommy Maher on lap steel guitar (Fireside Collective), Derrick Gardner on keyboard (all around master on the keys), Daniel Serriff on lead guitar (Blues Traveler, George Porter Jr, Edwin McCain, Ike Stubblefield…and countless others), and Lindsay Lou on vocals (Billy Strings, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Greensky Bluegrass, Sierra Hull…and more). Daniel and Lindsay were not in the studio on the day I was there, but I was able to experience just a glimpse of the magic being created.
There is a saying that people don’t want to know how “the sausage is made”. In this case, it was about as cool of an experience as one could have and I am proud to say that I was part of it.
